Camín de La Formiga

This walk includes Anayo, where there is a bar called "La Bolera" serving traditional Asturian food (we recommend calling first to check they’re open). There are spectacular views on route, especially as you pass La Formiga and look across the hills to the Picos de Europa.

Start at El Caspio: Begin in the plaza of El Caspio and enter the woods opposite our guest house. Alternatively, for wet conditions or trainer footwear, take the road out of El Caspio, turn left at the bottom towards Torazo. After 1 km, turn right at the "La Formiga" sign and ascend 600 metres to La Formiga.

Views at La Formiga: At La Formiga, admire the views across the pastures to the Picos de Europa. Proceed in front of the house, then turn back behind it, continuing uphill.

Uphill to Pico Viyao: Follow the uphill track until the road turns right towards Pico Viyao. Stay on the asphalt for 1.2 km to a T-junction, continuing straight. Remember this spot for your return.

Path to Anayo: After 900 metres, take a right-hand path behind some houses, continuing for 600 meters to Anayo. The bar is visible at the hill's base.

Leaving Anayo: Depart from the bar, cross the road, and take the uphill path on your right. Follow the road with houses on your left for 700 metres to a T-junction, then right, back to the asphalt track towards Pico Viyao.

Return to T-Junction: Continue for 800 metres to the remembered T-junction, then turn right and descend.

Through Eucalyptus Forest: Follow the asphalt road for 2 km into a eucalyptus forest. Descend steeply for 1 km to a T-junction, then take a left turn.

Final Stretch Home: Stay on this road for 1.5 km to return home. For the Wikiloc route, enter the woods opposite Brecín, following the path for 200 metres, then right and up a hill, left at the top to exit the woods.
